ARMchain Introduces Post-Quantum Layer 1 Blockchain With Devnet Live

ARMchain, a Layer 1 blockchain built to withstand quantum computers, has opened its devnet. Developers can deploy Solidity contracts on a chain where accounts sign with NIST’s ML-DSA standard. A public testnet is targeted for November 2026.

ARMchain Introduces Post-Quantum Layer 1 Blockchain With Devnet Live

Sydney, Australia - 27.10.2026 - ARMchain, a Layer 1 blockchain that uses NIST-standardised post-quantum cryptography, is running a public development network (devnet) for developers. The devnet is the first phase of ARMchain’s roadmap. ARMchain targets a public testnet in November 2026, with mainnet to follow.

Most blockchains prove ownership with signatures such as ECDSA, which a large quantum computer could forge. Moving to new signatures later means migrating every account, validator, and wallet, and the protocol cannot move users’ funds for them. ARMchain’s validator keys, node identities, and default accounts were post-quantum from the first block.

Post-quantum cryptography covers three layers:

  • Accounts: ML-DSA-44 (FIPS 204) signs transactions.

  • Consensus: Validators sign consensus events with ML-DSA-44.

  • Networking: Nodes connect with ML-KEM-768 (FIPS 203) key exchange, so recorded traffic cannot be decrypted later.

“ARMChain exists to give the next era of blockchain a foundation that doesn’t break when quantum computers arrive. We’re building a quantum-resistant layer 1 so that developers and users can build and transact without betting on legacy cryptography,” said Samran Habib, Founder at ARMChain.

The ARMchain devnet

The devnet runs three validators with the London-fork Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), standard Ethereum JSON-RPC, and Lachesis asynchronous Byzantine fault-tolerant (aBFT) consensus, where a block is final once the network decides it. Developers can use the SDK (@armchain-ethersv6/ethers), a browser wallet, a block explorer, a faucet for devnet ARM, and a local Fakenet.

What developers get

  • Deploy Solidity contracts. Contracts compiled for the London fork deploy without changes, and indexers and backends connect over the same JSON-RPC.

  • Send ML-DSA transactions. The SDK’s default wallet signs with ML-DSA-44. Standard Ethereum transaction types also work, but those accounts are as exposed to a quantum attacker as they are on Ethereum.

  • Choose how an account authenticates. Native account abstraction supports ML-DSA, SLH-DSA (FIPS 205), passkeys, a hybrid of ECDSA and ML-DSA, and guardian recovery. Passkey and guardian accounts use classical signatures today.

  • Onboard users without tokens. A foundation paymaster covers an account’s first transaction.

  • Plan for signature size. ML-DSA-44 verification takes 46 to 52 microseconds on one laptop core, close to ECDSA, but a signed transfer is about 3.8 KB against about 120 bytes on Ethereum.

What’s next

30.10.2026: The devnet will be rebuilt on a fresh genesis with four validators, so one can restart without pausing finality.

15.11.2026: The public testnet will launch with at least four validators, each operator generating its own keys. The genesis hash and validator public keys will be published earlier.

Mainnet: No date is set. It will follow the testnet, an external security audit, and the first throughput and finality benchmarks.

About ARMchain

ARMchain is a Layer 1 blockchain with post-quantum cryptography from genesis. It runs the London-fork EVM with Lachesis aBFT consensus and native account abstraction, and uses NIST’s ML-DSA and ML-KEM for accounts, validators, and node connections.
